In a surprising turn of events, Iga Swiatek is on the hunt for a new coach after parting ways with Tomasz Wiktorowski. The announcement sparked widespread speculation about the reasons behind their split, leaving fans and analysts alike buzzing with curiosity. However, after the latest revelation of Wiktorowski, it will be safe to say that the rumors have been put to rest.
Many were taken aback by Iga Swiatek’s decision to part ways with Wiktorowski, especially considering their productive collaboration that yielded an incredible 54-7 record, five trophies, and the Pole’s top position in the world rankings. Eleven days after that surprising announcement by Swiatek, Wiktorowski has now opened up as well and has come forward with his own point of view.
“There has been a lot of speculation and insinuation… Definitely too much considering that the statement that was issued very precisely defines our decision. It is enough to read it with understanding, and not with the intention of looking for sensation. Our termination of cooperation took place with respect for both parties and no fakes will change that,” Wiktorowski said in the pages of WP SportoweFakty, as reported by Przeglad Sportowy Onet.

Not only that, Wiktorowski also talked about the circulating claims that Daria Abramovich, Swiatek’s psychologist, was involved in his departure. He adamantly refuted any rumors implying that Abramovich was involved in the coaching change, stressing that he and Swiatek made the final choice. He added, “I think that in general, we had a very good relationship in the team. During three years of intensive cooperation, it is impossible to avoid difficult situations, but even then, we always found a way to reach an agreement and get back on track.”
While the announcement came as a huge shock, Wiktorowski reflected on whether the timing of this split was planned or not. “It was simply a necessity. We have never made sudden and, above all, ill-considered decisions,” he further remarked.

Speaking on the Polsat Sport Talk, Aleksander Kwasniewski, the former president of Poland, underlined that the change in the coaching staff could affect Swiatek’s performance. Moreover, he also highlighted that Swiatek might find it difficult to get along with a new team member who has to adjust to her established work ethic and the dynamics of the team without Tomasz Wiktorowski.

“The question is who will be her coach and how well he will cope. Unlike the first coach, he will find a more formed Iga, who knows her stuff, has an ego and a strong personality. It has to be a coach who will find the key to her. For me, the most interesting tournament will be the WTA Finals in Riyadh,” Kwasniewski said.
Iga Swiatek has not competed since losing to Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals of the US Open in September. In order to focus on her recuperation and preparation, she decided to withdraw from a number of tournaments, including the Wuhan Open, China Open, and Korea Open. She will play at the WTA Finals though and might still finish the year as World No. 1. Nevertheless, what are your thoughts on Swiatek’s split with Wiktorowski? Let us know in the comments below.
