The China Open, a prestigious tennis tournament held annually at the National Tennis Center in Beijing, is set to make history. After a 16-month absence, the WTA and ATP tournaments will be held in Beijing. The absence was caused after Peng Shuai, a Chinese tennis star, disappeared.

She had accused a high-profile Chinese politician of inappropriate behavior. After which she disappeared and in the wake of it, the tournaments stopped happening in China.

Never seen before paycheck to be awarded to women’s winner of China Open 2023

In contrast, the men’s singles winner will be awarded a comparatively lower sum of $650,000.
