American tennis is growing from strength to strength! While tennis players like Serena Williams and Andy Roddick kept the backbone of American tennis alive, the current generation of American tennis players, which includes Frances Tiafoe, Jessica Pegula, Tommy Paul, and Coco Gauff, have a very clear goal in mind: to put American tennis back on the map. Well, they might have taken the first step.
As they carry the hope of a nation on their shoulders, Pegula and Paul, two popular American faces on both the ATP and WTA circuits, have set a remarkable record that has been unbroken for over 800 weeks concerning Roger Federer and Serena Williams.

The two American tennis players, Pegula and Paul, differ greatly from each other. Both of them are currently playing at the Canadian Open and have reached their respective stages of the tournament after defeating a lot of tough competitors along the way. But not only did they defeat the tough competitors but also triumphed over the world’s top-ranked tennis players to set a historic milestone.
The 29-year-old star embedded her name in history after she defeated Iga Swiatek, the World number one in WTA, in the semi-final round of the tournament. On the ATP front, the 2023 Australian Open semi-finalist also battled past Carlos Alcaraz, the present ATP World Number one. Nevertheless, both of these amazing victories took place in the same week, making it even more special.

Moreover, this is the first time since Miami 2008 that, consecutively, a pair of American tennis players set a record. Nearly 801 weeks ago, Andy Roddick defeated the Swiss tennis legend, Federer, who was the tour’s top-ranked player then.
On the other hand, was Serena Williams vs. Justine Henin. The 23-time Grand Slam champion defeated Henin at the Miami Open quarterfinals, standing out in the tournament fight by defeating the then reigning WTA number 1.
Jessica has now followed a record led by the 41-year-old tennis legend Serena. However, the streak of success is not new. In fact, the 29-year-old American WTA player wrote a motivational message to her followers in the wake of a similar tennis record last year.
Pegula created an amazing victory record last year
Last year, WTA’s third-ranked player showed the world her tennis talent, as she became the only player with the most WTA 1000 wins over the last two seasons, winning 37 times in the WTA 1000 events. While Jessica Pegula struggled in the beginning, she knew how important striving for her goals was.

After learning about her amazing record, the 29-year-old took to Twitter to share a motivational message. She expressed how she never thought at the beginning of her career that she could achieve such a feat. Along with that, she expressed her delight by saying how nobody can let down a person’s motivation in a dedication to do more and their best.
If you told me 5 years ago when I couldn’t string 2 matches together that I would have this stat… 🤯 you can always improve, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise https://t.co/W6gfFWGmNC
