The tennis world reacts after Iga Swiatek beat Naomi Osaka to win the ‘Sunshine Double’

After a sensational win over Osaka, Swiatek now became only the fourth female player ever to win the ‘Sunshine Double.’ Many former players reacted with great joy as they witnessed the rise of a star in the future.

Former American legend Chris Evert wrote on Twitter, I think we?re going to see a lot of major finals between @iga_swiatek and @naomiosaka So happy to see Naomi back and Iva was in the zone today… to both players!

Former American ATP player James Blake also reacted after Swiatek’s win. He said, “Iga, just an amazing career already … 20 years old.”?

After the match, the Polish player gave an interview and had a brief chat with legendary tennis player, Martina Navratilova. In that interview, the 18-time Grand Slam winner said to Iga, “you looked like you still so hungry and the pressure didn’t get to you at all.”

Expressing awe about Steffi Graff and Navratilova’s winning streaks, Swiatek replied, “I mean yeah, I’m still hungry because still you know I don’t wanna lose and I wanna win every match basically… I was also thinking of players like you and Steffi Graf who had their own streaks… I mean you are so inspiring and you showed us that it’s possible.”

Swiatek to become the World No.1 on Monday

Following her emphatic win over Osaka, Swiatek is now a four-time Masters 1000 champion. The 20-year-old Pole, who will be crowned the World No.1 on Monday is now on a 17-match winning streak.
