The 26-year-old tennis star is all set to become the new world number one, and while she is enjoying the process, she recently revealed how, among all of the congratulatory messages, the 23-time Grand Slam Champion lauded him in the funniest way ever.

In a post-match conference at the US Open, she revealed how the Serb came up with a unique message. She said, “The funniest one was from Djokovic. Bc he also will be world #1 after US Open. Someone mentioned us with funny sunglasses & he just sent me ‘Smile if you’ll become world #1.’ It was the funniest one.”

While, just like Sabalenka, the 36-year-old tennis player is also ready to grab the world number one ranking, as both of them are in this together. Nevertheless, in the same conversation, she admitted how she wanted to battle for the position, but looking at the four-time Grand Slam champion’s defeat in the fourth round of the tournament upset her and at the same time bought her the biggest opportunity of her tennis career.

Moreover, grabbing the world’s number one position was something that the Belarusian tennis player wanted to achieve for a long time. A few years back, she revealed the actual reason behind giving her 100% to reach the top, other than ticking off a tennis goal off her list.

Why was Sabalenka so anxious to earn the top spot?

Back in 2020, when the 2023 Australian Open champion lost her 43-year-old father, she shared an emotional message for her deceased father in a post-match conference during the Adelaide International. In that, she talked about how she was just trying to fight because her father wanted to be the world number one in tennis.
