While everyone was in awe of Badosa’s impeccable comeback, the Spaniard revealed an interesting fact about yesterday’s match that involved Badosa’s boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Spaniard reached the R32 of the Cincinnati Open after defeating America’s Peyton Stearns in the grandstand by 6-2, 7-5. Surprisingly, Badosa’s beau Tsitsipas was also playing at the Center court, adjacent to the grandstand. Tsitsipas struggled during his match but ultimately reached the second round by defeating Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in a three-set match. Post-match, Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj interviewed Badosa and asked her about her experience playing at the grandstand.

The Spaniard, who could hear her boyfriend’s match from the grandstand yesterday, said with a smile, “Look, it’s not easy to play on grandstand and hearing his result all the time like there was a few times I was like, s**t he lost the set. Paula, focus. Focus on your match because I continue hearing him. But yeah, it’s not easy playing on at the same time. So next time guys put me different time.

Tsitsipas’ statement cleared the air that he refrained from attending Badosa’s matches out of stress. Given that they are a couple, Tsitsipas’ reaction is something many boyfriends would resonate with. He further added, “This is one of the agreements I made with Paula. If she wants to watch, she always can. But it’s better if we focus on our tennis and our training.

After Tsitsipas’ message it was clear that despite being madly in love, this couple made a logical decision to keep their personal and professional lives apart. Nevertheless, Badosa seemed to take it sportingly. Fortunately for her, she will play her next match against Anna Kalinskaya in court 10 and looking to attain another win.
