Gael Monfils, who is known for his explosive playing style and athletic ability, had been dealing with his wrist injury for some time and had decided to take a break to focus on his recovery. He stayed on the sidelines during the 2023 French Open to avoid any further complications. However, now he is back to being healthy and will be playing North American hard-court swing at UTS in Los Angeles.
Owing to the same, in a recent interview, Gael shared who his source of motivation and inspiration is. And like every other man’s source of success, it’s his wife, Elina Svitolina who herself is an exceptional player in the WTA world rankings.

After being away from the courts, it is hard for any tennis player to come back or make up their mind to play again. However, Monfils has finally gathered the courage to make a comeback on the grass courts of the tennis world. He will be playing at UTS in Los Angeles after being away from the sport due to an injury.
In an interview with Tennis Majors, he shared how his wife inspired him to come back and became his source of strength. He added, “Just proud of my wife, to be honest. How much work she has put in to be at that level. How much discipline she had. I was amazed by her strength, mentally, in some matches, to turn them around and then come back for her next match – I was proud and inspired. This is why I feel like a champion right now.”

Ahead of his appearance in the tournament, he felt that it was because of his wife that he is able to be back because he was blown away by her performance on the court and was inspired as he watched his wife defeat the former Grand Slam champions like it was no big deal.

After singing words of praise for his beloved wife, in the same conversation Monfils also talked about his current health status. He said that he feels much better now. That is why he is able to play. His wrist issue is now in the past. But he will continue to be very careful and will tape his wrist during the matches.

Further, he also added that he will continue to do rehab as well. He also said that it is amazing to have a new sporting event and the venue of the event is also really nice and he likes it personally. We are sure all his fans would love to see him back in action on the court.
