While every tennis fan savored the legend’s comeback, there was one more well-known tennis personality who was utterly astounded by her performance in her comeback match. It was none other than Roger Federer‘s former coach, Paul Annacone. He sent the 43-year-old tennis star a heartfelt message, dispelling critics and describing what a true tennis comeback entails.

Along with that, a lot of people have been questioning her whether she is still capable of giving completion.

After her surprising victory, Federer’s ex-coach also came out in support of her passion for tennis. And shared a statement for Williams haters, who were constantly hounding her to announce retirement.

He tweeted, “Bet against great at your own peril … thanks 👏👏👏👏 @Venuseswilliams what a treat today.” He also praised the seven-time Grand Slam champion for putting up such an entertaining match.

The 60-year-old tennis coach has nurtured tennis stars including the Swiss maestro, Pete Sampras, and even Sloane Stephens. After training these popular faces, it will not be wrong to say that the American coach is definitely aware of what criticism can do to an active athlete.

However, Venus never lets such criticism affect her positive outlook. A few months ago, the 43-year-old tennis player stood up for herself. And claimed that she had a long run before retiring from the tennis circuit.

Williams offered a life philosophy during a question-and-answer session on Instagram a few months ago as she got real about getting things done. During the Q&A, a fan asked the seven-time Grand Slam champion if there was ever a time when she felt so defeated that she thought about retiring.
