After downing the American sensation with a comeback victory at Melbourne Park, Svitolina highlighted how her husband’s inevitable aging hardly stops him from displaying the fire inside him during a press conference. “I was telling him how impressive his handling of the match had been and I know he wanted the match to go as he wanted, to play well and to measure himself against Taylor, who is a great player.”
“I feel that, as they always mention his age, Gael feels he still has a lot of energy, he wants to show it and fight. And he has done it impressively today,” she added. Svitolina will next take to the court for the Linz Open, slated to showcase her Round of 16 contest on Wednesday, January 29.
