A sense of excitement is what every sports fan craves when they turn up to watch their favorite players in action. This excitement increases multifold when players try unique shots that widen their eyes and make them jump out of their seats. Recently, Venus Williams, who is renowned for interacting with her fans via Q&A sessions on Instagram, came across an interesting fan question. It was about her trying an iconic shot, played by none other than the ‘Swiss Maestro’ Roger Federer. Her answer certainly was a peculiar one.

Roger Federer, over the course of his illustrious career, not only created incredible records but also mesmerized his fans with his unique shot-making skills. Although Federer is known for shots like SABR (Sneak Attack by Roger) and the fake drop shot, probably the most iconic of them all would be the shot that downed Novak Djokovic in the 2009 US Open semifinal.

When we talk about trick shots, especially tweener shots, Roger Federer will probably come to every tennis fan’s mind. Who could forget his incredible passing tweener against Novak Djokovic in the US Open semifinal in 2009? However, trick shots, as the name suggests, can be tricky and therefore, need a lot of practice. Hence, the seven-time Grand Slam champion, Venus Williams, is in no mood to try them ahead of her much-awaited comeback.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion has always taken advantage of her imposing and aggressive gameplay. Thus, she is not looking to experiment with things as she is looking to make a much-anticipated comeback.

During her routine interaction with her fans through her Instagram stories, a fan asked, “Do you do tweeners?” To this Venus replied honestly, “No, I never spent time learning those trick shots. It’s too late now.” Sheepishly, she added, “I don’t have the patience now.”

Tweener shots got their popularity from none other than Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer. The player has mesmerized his fans multiple times by playing such trick shots in crucial moments of important matches.

One was at the semifinals of the US Open in 2009. He was leading against Novak Djokovic when out of nowhere he hit a tweener shot that received rapturous applause from the crowd, and a cheeky smile from the ‘Djoker’.
