World No.2 Naomi Osaka recently withdrew from the French Open 2021. Earlier, she had announced that she wouldn’t be attending any press conferences at the Grand Slam as she is not mentally well. However, after receiving backlash from tennis players and authorities, the Japanese star decided to walk away from the tournament.
There is more sad news to this as Naomi Osaka won’t be featuring at the WTA Berlin 2021. It is the first grass-court tournament of the season and is a lead-up event of Wimbledon 2021. The tournament will begin on May 14, 2021, right after the French Open 2021.
Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from her first scheduled grass-court event in Berlin (week commencing June 14th). Still on the Wimbledon entry list but she is back home in LA for now.

It is quite evident that Osaka is not in the right mental state to compete at the moment. Even though her name is still there on the list of players who’ll be featuring at the Wimbledon Championships 2021, the chances for the same look highly unlikely.

It’s not just Osaka who will miss a grass-court tournament as 3-time Grand Slam winner, Stan Wawrinka, will, unfortunately, join her as well. However, the scenario for Wawrinka is even worse as he’ll even skip the Wimbledon Championships 2021.

It was shocking for fans when Wawrinka announced that he would not be participating in the French Open 2021. He won the Grand Slam in 2015 but his foot injury didn’t allow him to take part at Roland Garros this year.
