However, the deal with media giant ESPN came out of the blue for the World No. 30. Ahead of the semi-final clash between Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova, Eubanks delved into the details of how he landed the opportunity.

When Gauff saw her best friend in the ESPN office set-up after winning the quarter-final, she was taken aback. The 19-year-old was pleasantly surprised to see Eubanks decked up as a commentator for the rest of the last major tournament. The Wimbledon quarter-finalist revealed the exciting details that led to him being a part of the ESPN team.

In an interview with Forbes, Eubanks revealed, ?We didn’t even really discuss what the pay would be in the beginning, it was just the fact that ESPN was going to give me the opportunity to be on their platform. And I was just, like, whatever it is I’ll take it.?

The ATP professional’s commentary soon became the favorite among the tennis community. He received more love than ever. Eubanks said, “The responses have been more than I could have even imagined, so many people have reached out and said they enjoy hearing my commentary, that they liked seeing me on TV.”?The American further shed light on how his game has improved after he started analyzing the matches.

The former World No. 29 enjoyed his best career run in 2023. This came after he assumed the role of an analyst at Tennis Channel for two consecutive years. Eubanks first started his behind-the-screen role in 2021. He was a Top 200 player then, and playing a new role besides playing professional tennis did not occur to him.

But in a turn of events, the ATP professional’s performance spiked after he started analyzing matches. In 2023, the American won his first career title at the Mallorca Open. Post his win, he emerged as a quarter-finalist for the first time in Wimbledon. Eubanks enjoyed a good grass season, and his future on one of the toughest surfaces looks promising.

Gauff’s best friend credits his time as an analyst for his better performance. As a commentator, Eubanks had to get into the minds of the players to explain to the audience what tactics the professionals use and which shot would be better to take down the opponent.
