Roger Federer has retired from playing tennis but keeps in touch with the tennis scene today. One of the stars he has been following over the years is Coco Gauff, who is managed by Team8, a talent management company headed by the Swiss Maestro. He recently congratulated her as the US Open champion, who managed to find her way to the cover page of a prestigious magazine.
Gauff entered the roster of Team8 not long after she hit the headlines for beating Venus Williams. Federer’s first piece of encouragement for her came in the same year, and it continues in 2024.

Coco Gauff has astounded the world with her achievements on the tennis court. She began her dominance at the age of 16 when she beat Venus Williams in her debut grand slam appearance. She rose through the rankings quickly and managed to win her first grand slam in 2019 at the age of 19. Her fame is showing no signs of ending, as she recently found her way to the cover of Vogue magazine.

She appears on the cover of Vogue’s April 2024 issue wearing a dazzling golden gown, opting for the shining article instead of her sporty tennis skirt. Roger Federer was elated at her growth and shared the picture on his Instagram story with the caption, “Go Coco! Congratulations! Well deserved @cocogauff 👏🏼👏🏼”. The portrait was taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, in which the tennis star dazzles in a sequined Michael Kors dress.

Federer is front and center when it comes to celebrating Gauff’s achievements. He has also guided her whenever she has needed advice from those with more experience.
“it’s impossible to win every week” – Gauff reveals advice shared by the Swiss Maestro
In ‘The Roger Federer Effect’, Gauff revealed a piece of advice given to her by the 20-time grand slam champion. “He told me that you’re playing every week and sometimes you’re going to feel like you don’t enjoy it. You’re going to put too much pressure on yourself about winning every week. And it’s impossible to win every week on Tour.”

Gauff further said that she nodded along to Federer but didn’t think about what he meant until the 2022 Madrid Open. While the words were shared, they took almost three years to resonate with her. She realized that she was not going to win all the matches she played, but she could enjoy each clash.
When the words hit home for Gauff, she entered the court with much less stress and played her best. Now, she has even won her first slam as she internalizes the advice of the Swiss Maestro. Federer’s encouragement has continued into 2024 and will likely be seen for many more years.
