Emma Raducanu has been off the field ever since she won the US Open. She has suffered multiple injuries and has been under frequent medical attention for the past thirteen months. Her injuries caused her to miss all the major events of this year, due to which she felt winning the US Open was unfortunate for her. But the Hangzhou International Tennis Masters Tournament in China came as a breather to her, as she was chosen as the promotion ambassador for the event. The tournament takes place from June 22nd to 25th at the Olympic Sports Center in Hangzhou, China. This requires the presence of Raducanu, as she is representing the event.

Being half-Chinese, Raducanu was excited about attending the event. But setting foot on the court just seemed impossible for her, given the series of unfortunate events.

According to a fan account of Emma Raducanu on Twitter, the Brit developed flu-like symptoms just before the tournament. Though it is not Covid-19, her doctor advised her against traveling. This caused her to miss the events in China, which annihilated her hopes of reuniting with Tennis and family.

The twenty-year-old was devastated upon learning of her travel restrictions. It has been four years since Raducanu visited the country, and the opportunity that pumped her spirits slipped from her hands. She expressed her sadness over not being able to reunite with fans and hoped to be in the limelight as soon as her body allows her.

The event in China was previously graced with legends like Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev in 2019. More players from the Tennis fraternity are set to join this year’s event, which is set to entertain the world for four consecutive days.
