Over the years, the tennis arena has witnessed a number of tennis players rise to sporting stardom at a young age. Some of the tennis players who maintained their poise did great throughout their tennis careers. While some didn’t abandon the sport, others fell victim to their own stardom. In a similar vein, British tennis star Emma Raducanu won her first Grand Slam victory at the US Open when she was just 18 years old.

She was quite well-liked in the tennis world after winning a title at such a young age and was a well-known personality off the tennis court. Recently, the 49-year-old former tennis player, Alex Corretja, looking into Raducanu’s current circumstances, underlines her current situation as a result of her stardom.

Alex Corretja highlights Emma Raducanu’s underlining stardom 

The former world number one Spanish tennis player recently talked in an interview with Express about the 2021 US Open Champion’s current downfall on the tennis circuit, in relation to her stardom. The former tennis player claimed that one of the factors contributing to her decline in form was that she might have found it challenging to adjust to her new status as a Grand Slam winner after becoming famous overnight following her triumph.

He said, “You have to speak to the press; people recognize you in the street and know where you are in the world. It goes from zero to a thousand in a few weeks. And that process she didn’t get through, she’s paying now. The understanding of everyone looking at you, expecting you to win every match or tournament you play, it’s super difficult.” 

Not only that, this year has not been that great for the 20-year-old British tennis star, she is constantly struggling with her tennis form and her injuries while trying to give her best performance on the tennis court. However, at that time, in 2021, when she won the US Open and literally stunned everyone, she not only became a star but also could have become the most influential teenager in the world if she didn’t face a downfall so early.

After stardom, Raducanu was on her way to touch heights as an influential teenager 

Raducanu’s victory at the US Open earned her a lot of fame overnight, which she didn’t expect. Following that, she had numerous sponsorship offers, some of which offered thousands of millions of dollars. She did, however, sign a contract with the giant communications company Vodafone, as the Daily Mail reported.

The British tennis player agreed to wear the company’s emblem starting in February 2022 wherever they travel as a part of a £3 million arrangement. Although she may come across as being very down to earth, the 20-year-old is incredibly successful and young, and occasionally, a little stardom may bring a rising star back.
