It has not even been 24 hours since the world hailed Mirra Andreeva for her first time in the fourth round of a Grand Slam. Andreeva defeated Anastasia Potapova in an epic battle and fought against Madison Keys today. Being the experienced player, Keys overpowered the Russian, and the teenager was overwhelmed by this.

In her post-match interview, after she won the third round in Wimbledon Championships, Andreeva was asked how she maintained her composure throughout the game, to which she answered that she works with her coach and family to be in control of her emotions. But the Russian sensation is only a human and ‘fell’ prey to her emotions in the last set of the match. She received a point penalty, and this drove the internet wild. Even Andy Roddick stepped in to justify Andreeva’s reaction, though nothing can undo the penalty she received.

The clip uploaded by ‘Tennis Channel’ is going viral, in which Andreeva was seen smashing her racket to the ground. But before that, she slipped and balanced herself. On the one hand, she was losing the match, on the other hand, her strength was failing. The slip triggered her, and she hit the racket to the ground. The whole internet feels that she wouldn’t have done it if she hadn’t slipped in the first place.

The penalty point angered the Twitterattis, and the statement of Roddick added fuel to their emotions. The one-time Grand Slam winner reacted, “I don?t think she does the racket thing if she doesn?t slip. Seems like a reaction to that ??. This seems like an overreach.”

People clearly did not agree on the grounds, “Code violation, unsportsmanlike conduct, point penalty, Mirra Andreeva.” A sea of fans also ridiculed the umpire for the injustice done to the Russian teen.
