The 2023 Australian Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka, suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Coco Gauff in the final of the US Open. But it has nothing to do with her opponent; the 25-year-old tennis player believes that the loss was on her. Even if the world’s number one tennis player does not believe it, she found someone to back up her assertion.

Recently, the American tennis legend Chris Evert supported Sabalenka for her style of play during the championship match. However, it looks like the fans didn’t take to her assessment kindly. The 68-year-old tennis legend faced heat from the tennis world for views.

The world’s top-ranked tennis player’s performance in the US Open final was an error-riddled journey. During the match, she made a lot of unforced errors, which resulted in her losing the US Open title. But after the match, the ESPN commentator, Evert, said something about the 25-year-old tennis player’s performance on the court, which infuriated a lot of tennis fans who bashed the American over her error-filled statement.

A tennis fan took to his Twitter account to state the exact words that were said by the 18-time Grand Slam champion. He wrote, “Chris Evert saying Sabalenka played “the best she could, maybe a couple of errors, she played a very high-quality match.”

Following that, a lot of fans pointed out how, even after making a lot of errors during the entire match, Evert looked towards the different side of the story, going against reality.

A fan wondered how the American tennis veteran could say something like this. He wrote, “43 unforced errors they need to be serious kshskshsj.”

Along with that, a fan also pointed out the exact number of errors that were made by the current world number one in the championship match. “‘maybe a couple’ and then it’s 46,” he added.

But that was not it. A fan lashed out at her for going against what was right and wrote, “Evert has genuinely never said anything correct in her entire life.”

On the other hand, a fan made fun of her for ignoring the errors and not watching the match. A fan wrote, “she really commentated that whole match without watching a second of it ijbollllll.”

Subsequently, a lot of fans wanted her to get out of the commentator’s box. A fan shared his anger and wrote, “She has to go.”

On the other hand, a fan has a similar message for ESPN, “They need to remove her.”

After that, a fan even mocked Evert over her age and wrote, “Well…ok let auntie Chris go back to her nursing home.”

Following that, a fan commented on how the former world number-one American didn’t really know what she was talking about. “It’s very clear she does not know what she is talking about,” he added.

Nevertheless, this is not the first time she has been bashed because of her commentating. Just a day ago, American tennis legends John McEnroe and Chris Evert faced a lot of heat for their commentary.

The two renowned commentators, who are legends of the sport, have come under fire. For several tennis fans, the American tennis legends’ presence has become flat, highlighting how ESPN should have new faces as commentators.

This came to light when the fans highlighted how their presence stops ESPN from giving a chance to someone with more creativity and flair in the commentary box. In addition, they also talked about how they would like to see Cliff Drysdale and Andy Roddick in place of the popular commentator pair.
