The path to this merger had its share of problems. They first talked about it in November, but they couldn’t agree on the final terms, and it seemed like they were fighting to get the best players for their leagues. However, all’s well that ends well, as the two giants of the sport have now decided to bury the hatchet and join forces.

This significant partnership, backed by a substantial $50 million investment from key players like SC Holdings, Tom Dundon (the owner of the PPA Tour), and various MLP owners, is set to usher in a new era of prosperity for professional pickleball. The sport has been experiencing remarkable growth, with more than 36 million players in 2022 and pickleball courts popping up all over the country. Dundon, who owns the PPA Tour, says this new company will make things smoother for the sport, like making rules, showing games on TV, and finding sponsors.

A star-studded lineup and optimistic future for pickleball
With high-profile athletes like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes among MLP owners, the merger will unite some of the biggest names in sports. In total, the combined leagues will showcase 150 of the world’s premier pickleball players.
Even though there might be some questions about the details and what this means for the sport, Connor Pardoe, who started the PPA, says, “The pickleball world has been crazy the last three weeks. Today we have clarity. This is an amazing day for the PPA, MLP, players, fans, and the sport of pickleball! I’m looking forward to growing the game of pickleball together.”
