After Mirra’s miraculous win in the third round of the Grass Slam against Anastasia Potapova, Andreeva revealed exactly what she wanted in the future, and it was quite ambitious of her. When she was asked if she took a look around her atmosphere, Andreeva said, “Of course, I do enjoy the atmosphere. It’s just amazing here. You see all the pro players. You see Djokovic, and you see Murray (blushes).” She was interrupted to ask if she greeted Andy Murray yet because she likes him.

The Russian said, “No, I am shy. So, yes, the atmosphere is great, and I hope that next year I will be in a different locker room that is level above. So (the crowd erupts in cheers), now I do everything for it.”?

What is so special about a locker room that got the Russian excited?

The All England Club has two major locker rooms for gentlemen and ladies. The women’s locker room for the top seeds is nothing less than a luxury and heavenly abode with its salon-like doors, luxury spa, and bath with separate cubicles. They are also equipped with make-up essentials for the players so that they can groom themselves ahead of any television presence. There is also a range of staff to serve tea, biscuits, and even draw baths for the players whenever needed. It seems like Andreeva would love such an experience. But as exciting as it may sound, it is also a place where players had to endure frustrating situations.

According to ‘The Guardian,’ Martina Navratilova‘s chihuahua once delayed Monica Seles’ presence on the court for a match because the pet was guarding its caretaker. Sharing the locker room next to the eighteen times Grand Slam winner was not easy for Seles. The pet barked every time Seles moved, preventing her from reaching the racket. So she had to wait for Navratilova to come out and make way for her.

The anticipation and eagerness to get to the premium locker room dates back to the late 90s. Top players like Steffi Graf, Navratilova, and Serena Williams always stick to a particular locker room as they believe it brings them good luck.

The locker-room rituals cause many squabbles as players get picky about them, and the rooms also face the brunt of the champions whenever they lose a match. The mirrors are usually the main victims, and sometimes even doors.
