After his emotional first-round victory, Monfils dedicated his victory to his newborn daughter.

Now, his beloved wife Elina Svitolina, who herself is competing at the French Open, penned down a heartfelt message for her husband.

The 36-year-old French player has been struggling with his on-court endeavors for the past few months. So, when he secured an invincible victory in the first round at the French Open, it overwhelmed the player with emotions.

Penning down his emotions, he dedicated his victory to his daughter, Skaï. His wife, on the other hand, was having a nerve-racking battle of her own back at their home. Monfils overcame an impossible 0-4 gap to upset Sebastian Baez. But the fifth set was not emotionally overwhelming for only the player.

Consequently, his wife, Svitolina, stated, I was screaming in my room.” Giving voice to her excited emotions, she added, “If someone heard me, it’s me cheering for Gael. It’s an unbelievable match.”

Besides that, Monfils showed up for his wife who herself is taking part as the French player. She stated, “I don’t know what he’s doing here now. I think he should be resting. I’m thankful for him for coming to support me.”

Scripting such a memorable comeback did not let Monfils enjoy it on his own. Hence, he went on to root for his wife as well. Now, Svitolina has reserved herself a third-round match. 

On the other hand, Gael Monfils is going against Holger Rune in the second-round match. Rune has proved to be a tough opponent. Besides that, the Danish player took down Novak Djokovic in the Italian Open quarter-finals.
