World No. 1 player Ashleigh Barty decided to end her 2021 season after the US Open. However, there has recently been a positive development in her personal life as she got engaged to her boyfriend, Garry Kissick.

The latter is an aspiring professional Golf player. He works as the irrigation technician for the greens at the Brookwater Golf & Country Club in Brisbane. Besides, the 29-year-old is an avid Liverpool supporter with the club’s famous phrase, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” as his Instagram bio.

Ashleigh Barty surprised the world with the news 

As Ashleigh Barty announced her engagement on social media. Fellow players from the tennis circuit poured in their wishes. Superstars like Simona Halep, Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Wozniacki were the first ones to congratulate the World No. 1. 

Wozniacki stated, “Yessss.” Azarenka and Halep both added strings of heart emojis. There were many other players and organizations that sent in their wishes. The American Jennifer Brady also commented with a bunch of exclamation marks. 

Garry also posted the same picture from his Instagram account, and mentioned the date of the engagement as well, which was 15th November 2021. He also wrote “I love you @ashbarty” in the caption of the post.

Coming to tennis, Barty had an incredibly successful year on the WTA tour. She won 5 titles, including the Wimbledon championships. On top of that, Barty also grabbed the bronze model for Australia at the Tokyo Olympics in the mixed doubles.

All in all, it has been a season to remember for Ashleigh Barty. She won a Major, ended the year as World No. 1, and got engaged to her boyfriend. We wish her the very best moving forward and for the next season.
