

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is reaching unprecedented heights in terms of both popularity and all-time sales. Blizzard in its latest press release has announced that the game sold 3.7 million units on launch, making it the company’s fastest-selling game of all time.

Blizzard says World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has outsold Diablo 3
WoW sore to unprecedented heights with the latest expansion of Shadowlands, besting Diablo 3 in terms of sales by 200K units. Diablo 3 previously held the record for selling 3.5 million copies on the launch day.
Blizzard also revealed some interesting facts with the press release, suggesting that the game has recorded its highest number of monthly and long-term subscribers, as compared to any other similar occasion of an expansion release in the past decade.

The year-to-date comparison has revealed that players have spent the most amount of time in Azeroth as compared to each year from the previous decade.

In the press release President of Blizzard Entertainment, J. Allen Brack said,
“It’s been a huge thrill to enter this whole-new dimension of the Warcraft universe together with millions of players around the world. It’s been equally rewarding to see players enjoying all of the new features and content in Shadowlands—whether they’re exploring new aspects of their characters with the Covenants or setting foot in WoW for the first time with the new-player experience in Exile’s Reach—and there’s much more to come.”

The game continues to perform well in China, recording a peak number of concurrent players in the first half of 2020. This continues to reaffirm its claims of calling WoW: Shadowlands the greatest PC game of all times.
