The FIFA World Cup 2018 saw another thriller today afternoon as England decimated a poor Panama side with a 6-1 scoreline. John Stones bagged two goals while Kane scored his first World Cup hat-trick. In between their strikes, Jesse Lingard scored a screamer from outside the box.

Stones started the carnage as he headed in his first international goal in the 8 minute from a Kieran Trippier corner. England looked threatening and finally got their second goal in the 22 minute. Lingard made a run into the box and was prevented from shooting at goal.

England’s captain, Harry Kane stepped up and fired a great strike into the top corner to give England a two-goal cushion. However, England seemed intent on giving Panama more misery. And they scored again in the 36 minute.

Ashley Young and Raheem Sterling shared a couple of one-touch passes to open up the Panama defence and Sterling slipped a ball through for Lingard. The Manchester United lad then found a yard or two and powered a shot into the top corner; giving the keeper no chance.

There was yet more drama as a brilliant England free-kick routine gave them their fourth goal. They pulled off a perfect training ground routine as Henderson floated in a free-kick which was played short to him. Kane got on the end of it and headed it back to the danger area where Sterling missed an easy header.

But luckily, Stones was on hand to save his blushes as he headed his second of the night. Right before half-time, Panama defenders seemed to lose their heads as one of them wrestled Kane to the ground inside the box. The referee spotted it though and correctly awarded England a penalty.

Kane stepped up again and buried the ball in the same spot as his previous penalty to give England a 5-0 lead at half-time, their combined World Cup tally of the last two tournaments.

The second half was largely uninteresting. Ruben Loftus-Cheek let one fly which deflected off Kane’s boots and looped over the Panama keeper to compound their misery. He got his hat-trick, though he knew nothing about it.

Panama scored a consolation goal, their first in World Cups as their oldest squad player, Felipe Baloy got on the end of a free-kick which Jordan Pickford could not save.

Twitter, as expected had a field day and this is how they reacted to a historic match:
