Wonder Cements launches #Saath7 as Rajasthan prepares for cricket carnival

The state of Rajasthan is all set to carry the baton for getting cricket to every nook and cranny of the state as Wonder Cements Pvt Ltd officially announced the launch of the Wonder Cements #Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav in Jaipur on 3rd November, in the esteemed presence of India’s World Cup winning captain, Kapil Dev.

With a refreshingly new format, the tournament is set to mark the start of a new era in cricket. It will feature a staggering 3,984 teams and 39,840 players. Spanning the entire state of Rajasthan, #Saath7 will be one of the biggest sport based citizen engagement initiative in the country.

With a view to finding hidden talents in the state and developing them, Wonder Cements has announced the three top performers from the tournament will be given one year of free training at the Wonder Cricket Academy in Udaipur. This is in addition to a whopping total sum of 30 lacs, which will be awarded as prize money among the champions at various levels.

This tournament will arguably be the biggest milestone for Women’s cricket in India as each team is allowed to have one or more women in their 10-member squads. To provide further incentive for selection of female cricketers, each team will be awarded a 7-run bonus for having women in the playing team.

Former India captain Kapil Dev was the Chief Guest as Wonder Cements launched the mega Cricket Mahotsav in Jaipur. Being a pioneer in promoting cricket tournaments in India, Kapil Dev was delighted to be associated with #Saath7.

The format of the tournament will be India’s best ever initiative to promote cricket in rural India. Wonder Cements is confident of finding the next big talent from Rajasthan through this tournament.

With any citizen above the age of 15 allowed to participate, the tournament will be a huge boost to grassroots development of cricket in the state and hopefully, identify future cricketing stars.

The key to success to any event of such a massive scale is structure and the Wonder Cements #Saath7 will have absolutely no problems in that regard as the organisers have seen to it that even the smallest of details have been analysed and dealt with.

Some of the features of the structure that the tournament will follow are-

• The Wonder Cements #Saath7 Cricket Mahotsav will commence on the 19th of December, 2015 and will run for 4 weeks, with the matches being played on weekends.

• Registration for a maximum of 16 teams from each of Rajasthan’s 249 Tehsils. (Total : 3984 teams)

• These 249 tehsils are divided among 33 districts and will compete with other winners from the same district.

• The 33 districts converge into 6 zones across the state of Rajasthan and each district champion will compete against teams in the same zone.

• The 6 Zonal champions will meet in Udaipur on January 10th, 2016, where one team will be crowned champions of Rajasthan.

The people of Rajasthan have plenty of reasons to rejoice as the Wonder Cements #Saath7 promises to engulf the state with 4 weeks of absolute cricketing carnival.

We hope it turns out to be a great success and becomes one of the biggest grass-root level tournaments in India, because it is no mystery that the lack of events at the substratal level is a major reason why promising players fail to achieve their potential.

The first edition of #Saath7 will hope to be a launchpad for expansion to other states of India. Wonder Cements has plans to expand to 5 states by the second season.
