Georgia Elwiss led Loughborough Lightning will start their campaign against Western Storm on August in the Women’s Cricket Kia Super League; which is scheduled to play its final edition. Operated by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Women’s Cricket Super League is also known as Kia Super League and started in 2016 which plays a key role to be a bridge between the domestic and the international circuit.
After having some of the best T20I players in the squad, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, Dane van Niekerk, Elyse Villani, Rachael Haynes etc., Loughborough Lightning have never performed well in the Women’s Cricket Kia Super League. In the inaugural season, they placed at the third while in 2018, they finished at the fourth place with 10 points, 2 wins from 10 games.
They performed well in the last season where they finished at the top of the points table in the group league games with 33 points, 7 wins from 10 games. They reached the final of the last season where a sudden collapse cost them the title and they lost to Surrey Stars by 66 runs.

However, they have a couple of important players like Amy Jones, Hayley Matthews, Kirstie Gordon, Jenny Gunn, Kathryn Bryce, Mignon du Preez, Chamari Atapattu. With their presence, it is expected that Loughborough Lightning will repeat their performance in the Kia Super League 2019 season as well; which is going to be the last edition too.
