The love between Dawn Staley and her prodigy, A’ja Wilson, is incomparable. The two have always stepped up to show their support for the good and bad for each other. Something similar happened when the 2x WNBA MVP announced her Nike shoe deal during her visit to South Carolina recently and the Gamecocks head coach commented “A’ja doing something big.” Now, the Aces star is doing the same. While she has been rocking the tunnel walk for years, Wilson’s tribute to Staley tonight definitely got the first place.

Showing her dominance both on and off the court is nothing new for A’ja Wilson. This time around, she again set the floor on fire with her appearance in Aces’ first of three road games. The official Instagram account of the Las Vegas Aces posted a clip along with a couple of pictures. Showing off the star’s loyalty to her great former head coach Dawn Staley, they captioned the post, “Reppin’ Royalty.” She was wearing a SLAM Magazine T-shirt with the print of Dawn Staley as the “CEO, Chief Excellence Officer.”

Many consider the Gamecocks head coach as one of the sharpest minds and great leaders in women’s basketball. Amongst the many stellar players that she has mentored and who have gone on to star in the WNBA, is the 3x WNBA blocks leader. In fact, the duo of Staley and Wilson had been raising the bars of women’s college basketball ever since their time together in South Carolina. Depite Wilson moving onto the pro league, Staley has continued to excel and how.

Her Gamecocks have dominated the WBB scene in the NCAA, winning two National Championships in three years. And as far as A’ja Wilson is concerned, not many would argue that she is undeniably the best player in the world currently.

A’ja Wilson and her greatness for the Aces

The 4x All-WNBA team honoree does not just play for the fun of it. This season, the team has won 4 games with A’ja Wilson recording 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in each of them. Grabbing five consecutive double-doubles, she also made the record for becoming the first-ever WNBA player to score 100+ points and 50+ rebounds in the first four games of a season.

A’ja Wilson has eaten the bread and left no crumbs as she continues to quickly climb up the stairs of multiple stats in the WNBA. Las Vegas has proven why they are the best team in the W right now with their consistent gripping displays. Next, A’ja Wilson and the Aces will fly to Atlanta to try and take down yet another strong team, the Dream.
