Are you a die-hard Angel Reese fan? If so, you might want to skip this piece of news because what’s coming next won’t be your cup of tea! The World Exposure Report Women’s Basketball have released a list ranking the ten best NCAAW players in the last 10 years and it has some surprises in store for us!
The list published in X ranks Breanna Stewart as the best player to come out from NCAAW in the last 10 years as opposed to the popular choice Caitlin Clark. Despite breaking the NCAA scoring record in her last season with Iowa, the Indiana Fever star finds herself in the number second spot.
But is it really that controversial of a choice? Breanna Stewart’s resume practically screams greatness, a 3x National Player of the Year, 4x Final Four Most Outstanding Player, 2x WNBA MVP, 3x NBA Champion and oh yeah, an NCAA champion every single year she played. Her achievements don’t just speak for themselves, they shout from the rooftops!

One name that would have been higher on the list if not for injuries is Paige Bueckers, the star senior guard for the UConn Huskies. As a freshman, Bueckers was a revelation, averaging 20 points and 5.7 assists per game while leading UConn to the Final Four. She shattered program records for assists by a freshman and single-game assists, setting the stage for what seemed like a legendary career in the making. But fate had other plans. A series of devastating knee injuries have derailed her journey, keeping her from fully realizing the superstar potential she flashed in her rookie season.
Rising stars like Hannah Hidalgo and JuJu Watkins have made their way on this list, and some would argue they fully merit being on it. Both JuJu and Hannah are averaging 24+ points and 6+ rebounds per game in their sophomore season, they have the talent and drive to challenge the NCAA scoring records currently held by Caitlin Clark. But the question remains, is there truly no one better than these young guns who’ve just laced up their sneakers to play college ball?
Let’s take a look at those who have missed out
Big names missing from the list
Arike Ogunbawale
Arike Ogunbowale etched her name into NCAA history with her clutch heroics, leading the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the 2018 championship and coming heartbreakingly close to a repeat in her final season, falling short by just one point. Crowned ACC Athlete of the Year in 2018, Ogunbowale’s legacy is undeniable in the college basketball circuit.
Sabrina IonescuWhat more is there to say about a player who’s practically rewritten the record books? Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, NCAA triple-double record holder, Naismith Player of the Year, and USBWA National Player of the Year, she’s done it all. Not to mention, she finished her NCAA career with over 2,000 points, 1,000 assists, and 1,000 rebounds. For someone who accomplished so much in her college career, her absence from this list is extremely shocking!
Angel ReeseReese, a McDonald’s All-American, and top 2 recruit, began her college career at Maryland before transferring to LSU, where she led the Tigers to their first national championship and set multiple records. The Bayou Barbie set the NCAA single-season record for double-doubles and the SEC single-season record for rebounds, solidifying her dominance on the court.
While her rivalry with Caitlin Clark continues to wow fans on the court, it is surprising to see an athlete who broke so many records during her time in the NCAA didn’t make the cut!
There’s no denying that this list features some of the biggest names in women’s basketball. Caitlin Clark, Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson have already etched their legacies into the game. But let’s be real, there are always players who deserve a spot but didn’t quite make the cut.
