The WNBA is recording a historic number in terms of viewership, attendance, and jersey sales. However, the age-old question persists regarding the profitability of the league. Last year, Matt Barnes stated that there was no doubt that the league had some excellent talent, but they lacked athleticism. To speak about the same, a Georgia Bulldogs player echoed a similar thought and appreciated the quality that the WNBA has over the NBA.
And here at EssentiallySports, we exclusively got another perspective on the triple-double record performance of Caitlin Clark. Silas Demary Jr. was featured in the pilot episode of our new show Dual Threat Show hosted by BG12. Silas, 20, registered a significant impact on the court in his freshman season, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team and leading the Georgia Bulldogs in steals. Speaking with the Bulldogs point guard, he shared some fascinating WNBA and NBA anecdotes.
BG12: “As a rise of the WNBA with Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese and all this, all this commotion between the sport and I think, it’s amazing that these girls are getting noticed for this. Cuz they’re doing an amazing job, how do you feel about Caitlin Clark making history for a triple-double in their rookie season?”

Demary Jr.: “Yeah, I would say for me I’ve always been a fan of WNBA, like I’ve watched the games even before Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese was there. Because I mean, I just like the way women play basketball like it’s very fundamental. Like you look at kind of like, the NBA is whole bunch of athleticism and you can rely on your athleticism more than your fundamentals. But in the WNBA they aren’t as athletic like, but it’s really fun because they play together like you can tell that everybody plays off each other.”
Even though Demary Jr. considers the league as not athletic, he has learned a key thing from seeing the W players. He pointed out that watching the WNBA helps him improve his game. Looking at WNBA, Demary Jr. appreciates the collectivity the women hoopers display on the hardwood. And this is something that he doesn’t find in the NBA owing to its high athleticism.
