Coco Gauff is into round 4 of the US Open and looks primed to defend her title from 2023 successfully. The WTA World No. 3 just finished a thrilling match against Elina Svitolina, defeating her 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. And while the whole country is rooting for the youngest woman to win the US Open in the last 25 years to do it again, a WNBA star in the making, aka Paige Bueckers, is also a fan!
Bueckers was spotted in Gauff’s box, a place usually reserved for family, close friends, coaches, or the player’s team members. But the UConn star was surprisingly spotted at Arthur Ashe Stadium alongside teammate Azzi Fudd, presumably as part of their ‘World Tour.’
Bueckers even took to social media later to ask, “How do you say Coco is HOOPIN, tennis version?” If you look at the scoreline, it was a crushing defeat for Gauff in the first set, but she staged a remarkable comeback in the second set and led in the third right from the beginning.

Paige Bueckers and Fudd were present at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center as part of the tour the duo has been taking across the country. They’ve been spotted at a number of WNBA games and now, they’ve dabbled into tennis. Bueckers also made a brief pit stop at home for the Minnesota State Fair, branching out from just basketball.
With the stop in NYC to watch the reigning WTA champ in action, who knows, Bueckers and Fudd might find themselves at the end of next week still here! Why? They might just get to watch Gauff successfully defend her title on Saturday, Sept. 7 when the WTA final takes place. Whatever happens with Gauff going forward, Bueckers will certainly be supporting her, as her latest X post proves.
“Let’s goooo Cocooooooo!!!🫶🏼” the UConn star posted after the third seed cleared the 3R. But interestingly, this is not a one-sided fandom, but a mutual admiration society!

Have an interesting take?
Coco Gauff is an equally big fan of Paige Bueckers
Coco Gauff may be a professional tennis player but she’s also an equally big fan of basketball, especially the women’s side of it. While her latest exposure to the sport came at the Paris Olympics as she bore the responsibility of flag bearer alongside NBA great LeBron James, Gauff is also a Paige Bueckers fan.
On July 11, the Huskies guard posted pictures from a fashion magazine’s photo shoot with the caption, “Helloooo fashion world 👋🏼 So blessed and grateful to @HighSnobiety for this opportunity to share a little bit of my story through a new fashion statement. Of course thank you to @bhampton and everyone else who played a part in making this happen🫶🏼”

Among the high-profile names in the comment section was Gauff, who posted a bunch of heart-eye emojis, with her reaction clear. Even ATP’s Ben Shelton joined the fray with a fire emoji, meaning he found the post ‘lit.’
While Gauff has yet to be found at a basketball game, probably owing to the nature of the long tennis season, might we expect her presence at a Huskies game in the near future? Only time will tell!
