The Chicago Sky couldn’t avoid a second loss to the Phoenix Mercury in just one week, falling 86-68. Despite the tough outcome, rookie Angel Reese was a standout once again, leading her team as the top scorer. Reese’s impressive performance didn’t go unnoticed as it caught the eye of the NBA legend Kevin Garnett, who pointed out a distinct playing style of Reese and even compared her to a former Dallas Mavericks legend.
It seems Kevin Garnett enjoyed the Sky game against Mercury and was impressed with Angel Reese despite her defeat. Garnett took to his X account and tweeted, “Yup… I see it. Angel Reese got an elite 2nd jump on the glass like Shawn Marion .. 20 boards and damn near 20 points? Face up game looked legit last night too”.

The Minnesota Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett couldn’t help but admire Angel Reese’s standout performance. Reese dominated the boards with 20 rebounds and added 19 points against the Mercury. This marked an improvement from her previous game against Phoenix, where she scored 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Reese’s performance also forced Garnett to recall NBA power forward Shawn Marion as he talked about Reese’s jump during WNBA action and compared the rookie with the legend. In case you don’t know, Marion was famous for his dunks which gave him the nickname of ‘The Matrix’. These recent comments came after few days of Garnett speaking highly of Reese’s rival, Caitlin Clark. He touched upon the advantage that the Fever rookie has over other WNBA rookies.
Kevin Garnett on Angel Reese’s archrival
Angel Reese’s arch rival Caitlin Clark was back in WNBA action when Indiana Fever faced Mercury and without a doubt, she was the star performer with 29 points and 10 assists in that game. Among many who praised the rookie guard, Kevin Garnett was also the one as he couldn’t stop himself from speaking on Clark’s performance.

“What if Caitlin Clark’s Olympic break was the off season adjustment for the league that WNBA rookies don’t get before their 1st season… sh*t looked crazy out there yesterday… Can tell she was in the film room…,” tweeted Garnett. Clark’s season has been nothing less than spectacular as she has averaged 17.8 points per game and is locked in a fierce battle for Rookie of the Year honors with her former LSU rival, Angel Reese.

Now, with Angel Reese also earning praises from NBA legend Kevin Garnett, the ROTY race would be more interesting as the league progresses.
