There have been a few quiet days for the former Lady Tiger. However, the Sky rookie seems to have upped her energy now. In last night’s game against the Dallas Wings, Angel Reese surely gave the fans a performance to remember. Along with the win over Arike Ogunbowale, she also claimed a record unlike any other. Everyone knew that at some point the double-double queen of LSU would spread her magic in the WNBA. But many, however, were also uncertain about the same transformation so early. Seems like she has indeed proven them all wrong while enchanting the team’s part-owner — Dwyane Wade.

In Sky’s last game at Wintrust Arena, an intense game showcased the last seed in the Western Conference and the second last seed in the Eastern Conference in hosts. With the 83-72 win over the Wings, Angel Reese contributed 16 points and 18 rebounds. This stat line made her the only rookie to record at least seven straight double-doubles. She capped off the night with 3 assists and 2 steals.

Recently, Angel Reese took to her Instagram account to re-share the Miami Heat star, Dwyane Wade’s, story. The caption was just three ‘fuming’ emojis, representing what the rookie does on the floor. The clip was Chicago Sky’s post, showcasing their new talent’s achievement last night. They captioned their post, “How do you spell Angel Reese? “D-A-W-G” A RECORD SETTING performance for Angel ‼️” In the same post too, Wade commented saying “Tough” along with a fire emoji showing how impressed he was with the record-breaking performance.

Although the ever-so-relentless hooper only sees the feat as an opportunity to grow further into her game and the league. Here is how she described the feeling.

Angel Reese and her hunger to grow

Many times, the Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon has praised her rookie for having a knack for rebounds. Certainly, this very knack has paid off quite well for the rookie, as she also stands as the only one so far this season to average double digits in her points and boards per game. The rebounding machine that started back in Baton Rouge has neither stopped nor slowed down for this Baltimore native.

In her sideline interview with ESPN after the skidding win, Angel Reese expressed her thrill to achieve this feat. She said, “It’s super exciting for myself. I try to give myself some grace and tell myself I’m doing a good job, but I have so much more to grow, and I’m just excited to be in this league.” The 6-ft-3 forward for Chicago has always placed winning and team ahead of her gains. But she surely is gaining a lot of traction despite being all for one for the Sky.

Angel Reese, if continues to put double-doubles with every game, will now have Candace Parker’s record to break. The recently retired 3x WNBA champion has achieved this feat with 12 consecutive double-doubles. However, next, the Wintrust Arena will host the 2023 NCAA champion’s arch-nemesis — Caitlin Clark. The Fever has a 2-0 advantage over Chicago so far. It will indeed be interesting to see how this matchup turns out.

Now the only question that arises is whether will Reese be able to continue breaking records or will the Lady Tiger be quiet again. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
