23-year-old Kevin Porter Jr. entered the league in 2019. He wasn’t a lottery pick, and the Cavs selected him at number 30. After a strong showing with the Cavaliers, the Rockets got interested in him. They traded for him, giving up a projected late draft pick. They assigned him to their G-League affiliate Vipers. He proved too good for that competition and the team recalled him in March.
Since then, he has risen considerably. The Combo Guard managed to average over 15 with the team for three straight seasons. He is currently on a four-year $63.5 million contract but will have a partially guaranteed contract for next season. Now his rise has hit a big wall and it can alter his career for the worse. His girlfriend and former Indiana Fever player Kysre Gondrezick pressed charges of domestic assault on him. As a result, the New York State Police Department arrested the Rockets Guard.
