Sabrina Ionescu has arrived on the scene! After months of speculation, the New York Liberty star finally joined Unrivaled three weeks ago as the league’s 36th and final wild card. Part of the Phantom Basketball Club, Ionescu joins the 3×3 league co-founded by her teammate Breanna Stewart and the Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier after much consideration on her part. But now that she’s finally here, the 27-year-old is getting ready to blow away the rest of the 30 opponents in the new league.
Unrivaled’s X page just posted an update on her most lethal skill, one which she even tested against the like of NBA great Steph Curry last year – her three-pointer! “We heard @sabrina_i20 just made 33 straight 3s in her workout this morning 🤯🤧😮💨 Phantom where yall at? 👀” Unrivaled wrote on X.
While 2025’s NBA All-Star Game is set to go through some changes, Curry and Ionescu just might again return to the three-point line to compete in a battle like the one in 2024. But while the Golden State Warrior’s avid shooter might be able to shoot 105 straight threes at practice, Ionescu is not lagging behind either. Look out, Curry!

And to think, Ionescu wasn’t coming to Unrivaled until the last moment. “It was a huge decision getting me to play or not,” Ionescu had told the AP aftre the news was confirmed. “I weighed out all my options and decided to do what’s best for me and my career. Being able to take part in a league that is the first of its kind with a historic deal and be on the ownership side of it is important for me.”
Since the NBA All-Star game falls on Feb. 16 in the middle of Unrivaled going on, Ionescu might need to step away for certain games. Fortunately, even if the league has given her flexibility to step away for a day or two if needed, Unrivaled doesn’t have any games on All-Star weekend.
As she gets ready for the new league with old Oregon teammate Satou Sabally now, Ionescu might find an old WNBA rival at the three-point shootout.
If “Stephen vs. Sabrina” comes back, Caitlin Clark might join Ionescu!
While Sabrina Ionescu was setting the pro league on fire with her shots, Caitlin Clark was doing the same in college with her own logo threes. The Fever player continued the trend in the WNBA in her rookie season and fans have been eagerly awaiting a repeat of the NBA vs. the WNBA match-up.
It was reported that Curry’s longtime Golden State Warriors collaborator Klay Thompson might join him in the three-point match-up. If he does, Ionescu knows who she wants to pick. “If I had to choose, I am taking Caitlin Clark on my team,” the Liberty player told the Big 10 Network in November.

Well, we can certainly imagine it! Ionescu and Clark side by side, one the recent WNBA finals championship winner, the other the Rookie of teh Year. Both known for their signature threes, finally taking revenge on Curry winning last year’s matchup. They might even surpass his 105 in a row record!
