Is height really a deal-breaker, or should love conquer all like Zendaya and Tom Holland?

“He gotta be tall.” Angel Reese has always had a clear vision of the type of guy she’s into, with one major trait standing out. For a while, height has been one of her top requirements when it comes to her ideal boyfriend. But recently, the Chi-Town Barbie seemed to be loosening up on that idea, especially after reflecting on the relationship between Zendaya and Tom Holland.

Recently, the Chicago Sky star dropped a new episode of her podcast Unapologetically Angel, where she welcomed Law Roach, the renowned American fashion stylist known for his work with big names like Zendaya. During their conversation, the two took a deep dive into the three-year official relationship between Zendaya and Tom Holland, who famously starred together in Spider-Man.

Since Tom Holland is a bit shorter than Zendaya, Angel Reese couldn’t help but comment on their dynamic. “I love Zendaya’s confidence. I just don’t know if I have the confidence to date a man shorter than me.” she admitted.

Curious, Reese asked Law Roach if he’d ever date someone shorter, and without hesitation, he replied, “Yeah, for sure I would.” However, Reese who looked unwilling of that idea responded with a smile, “I don’t know, I’m too scared.” Later when Roach highlighted it’s common in the celebrities’ world, Reese agreed but had a reason for her choice to not date short men. “In my world, it is uncommon. Like, as an athlete, it’s kind of uncommon,” mentioned Reese on Unapologetically Angel.

But Roach playfully nudged her, adding, “But you never know, you may fall in love with a short king.” At that moment, Reese paused and seemed to reconsider her stance. With a wink and a playful point to the camera, she quipped  “My short king might be out there. I’m waiting for you, I’m looking for you.”

As the Chi-Town Barbie waits for her next “Ken” — whether he’s tall or short remains to be seen — Reese’s most recent relationship was with Cam’Ron Fletcher, a fellow athlete she dated during her time at LSU. Fletcher, a college basketball player like Reese, stood at 6’7″, making him at least four inches taller than the 6’3″ Reese.

The two parted ways just before Reese made her move to the WNBA. She publicly announced their breakup in a no-nonsense Instagram Live, saying, “Yeah, I am single. I do what’s best for me, that’s it. I’m the catch! Let’s not get it twisted.” Since then, Reese hasn’t been shy about sharing the qualities she’s looking for in her next boyfriend, giving fans a glimpse into what might be next for her love life.

Angel Reese’s love life since split with Cam’Ron Fletcher: Rumors and her preferences

Since Reese and Fletcher’s split, many rumors had been circulated about potential relationships with several big names, including Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, rapper NBA YoungBoy, Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, and Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren. But Reese put all those rumors to rest during a September episode of her podcast where she hosted Latto and Mariah the Scientist. When asked about her relationship status, Reese was straightforward, simply saying, “I am (single).”

But she definitely has a clear idea of what she’s looking for in her next partner. During that same episode with Latto and Mariah the Scientist, she shared that her future guy must be tall. “He’s got to be tall,” Reese said, before narrowing it down further, revealing her ideal height preference: “6’7” or 6’8″.” To top it off, she admitted she probably envisions her perfect match being an “NBA player.”

However, Reese seemed to go against her own preferences in a later episode with Kayla Nicole.

In that conversation, she revealed, “I feel like it’s hard for me to date another man with power because they kind of  know ‘I’m not going for your BS’, like ‘I’m not going for the stuff that other women may be absolutely okay with’ and I feel like that’s really hard for me.”

Following that, Reese got some advice—and a little interrogation—from her uncle figure, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. He asked her about the qualities she looks for in a partner, but Reese was hesitant to answer, brushing off the questions with a simple “I don’t have a preference.” While she might not have a clear-cut picture of her ideal partner, one thing remains non-negotiable for Reese: dating shorter guys is a definite no-go and a “scary” thought for her.

But after her conversation with Roach, who knows? She might start considering that as a possibility. For now, though, Reese is still flying solo when it comes to romance.
