Last week was a historic one for Angel Reese, both on and off the court. On the court, well, it wasn’t exactly pretty, but off the court, she made history by becoming the first-ever female athlete to team up with McDonald’s for their first-ever female athlete meal. While she couldn’t be happier flaunting her big achievement, an American food critic was not as thrilled. Because the one promised thing you’d expect in a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder was… missing.
Yes, the bacon itself. How did that happen?
So, Reese’s new McDonald’s meal includes a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese, topped with a new BBQ sauce, French fries, and a drink, all priced at $13. Sounds good, right? Well, apparently not for John Jurasek, who reviews fast food on his YouTube channel TheReportOfTheWeek.

With nearly 3 million subscribers, John took the meal for a spin and noticed something was off. “No bacon to be found, none whatsoever,” he said, and that definitely caught some eyes. He added, “They promised two strips of Applewood smoked bacon. No bacon on this, none at all. What I received had the sauce, the beef, the cheese, the onions, the pickles… everything but the bacon.”

He wasn’t shy about expressing his disappointment either, noting that McDonald’s probably upped the price for the bacon, so not having it felt even worse. As for the BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder, without the bacon? It was “just a barbecue Quarter Pounder,” in the YouTuber’s opinion.
Now, this little hiccup comes after Reese herself shared how much thought went into the meal. “McDonald’s wanted the meal to feel personal to me, so we added bacon because I love it, and then the Bold BBQ sauce, which matches who I am,” she said.
She made sure every ingredient had its place and purpose, explaining, “We wanted to create something that wasn’t just tasty but also celebrated my style and the energy I bring to everything in my life.” With the bacon being so integral to the meal’s identity, it’s clear this means a lot to her. So, for now, we just hope these mishaps don’t happen too often so that the hype around the meal doesn’t get ruined. Because the Internet is loving what Reese is doing.
She’s been flaunting the collaboration everywhere to the buzz alive.

Reese made headlines during Week 3 of Unrivaled and for all the right and wrong reasons. She was the first player to get evicted, but before all that drama unfolded, Chi-Town Barbie stepped out onto the Unrivaled Sephora tunnel, promoting her McDonald’s meal in style.
Dressed in business-like attire, the forward wore a tailored black miniskirt. She paired it with a crisp white blouse and a black tie. Pairing it with black pointed-toe pumps completed the look. And with that, she was carrying a McDonald’s bag that proudly displayed the design of her upcoming meal.

Additionally, this comes hot on the heels of Reese’s other big deals—just last December, she announced a multi-year partnership with Reebok. Not to forget, she took it up a notch, releasing the REESE’S PUFFS Duffel Puff Bag in the same month.
