Hadn’t it been for the ACL tear, Cameron Brink could have been in the Rookie of the Year race. While she wasn’t averaging great numbers, her impact on the defensive end was clear to see. Averaging 2.3 blocks per game, she still ranks third in the league, only behind A’ja Wilson and Ezi Magbegor. However, the injury ended her rookie season after just 15 games. The heartbreak amplified as the ACL injury became the reason why Brink was no longer a member of the USA 3×3 basketball team that will be competing at the 2024 Olympic Games. As the 22-year-old gets set on the long road to recovery, fans showered her with well wishes.
Cameron Brink recently shared some pictures along with a video that was taken sometime around her surgery. She captioned the post, “Chillin on the road to recovery, thank you all for the well wishes:) I’m feeling extremely encouraged, supported & ready to make small strides every day. #delayednotdenied”

A week after her injury, she underwent surgery to pace up the healing process. However, it must be the miracle of her genes that she stunned everyone earlier this month when she showed up looking as glamorous as ever at the Crypto.com Arena when the Los Angeles Sparks hosted the Las Vegas Aces and pulled off a stunning 98-93 upset in OT.
Her injury might be keeping her away from the floor, but her fans haven’t left her side as they instantly bombarded the comment section with wishes for the Sparks rookie as she continues her journey.
Fans boost Cameron Brink’s morale
Since her injury, Brink has been sharing updates and staying engaged with her fans via social media, and this video is a part of that process, making her fans pour out their hearts in the comment section. Perhaps, that’s why a fan wrote in response, “This is so cute so many well wishes for recovery! You got this!” Depending upon the impact, an ACL injury can be as minor as Grade 1 or as severe as Grade 3 with a completely torn ligament.
Moreover, in the majority of these cases (almost 70%) it also poses damage to one of both menisci in the person’s knee. In other words, the severity level increases the knee joint’s tendency to become more unstable. The healing process involves a process of replacing a ligament with a new tissue. Hence, it all can take about 9 months to a year to recover from, making it a long wait. So. it is a battle in itself that might crush an athlete’s spirits and make them fall to pieces.
Another fan wrote, “The comeback is always stronger than the setback,” wishing her a healthy recovery and a stronger comeback. Before Brink tore her ACL, she was averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. Moreover, she registered a 20+ point game, 4 10+ point games, and a double-double within a month after her WNBA debut. So, it can be hoped that she will make a powerful impact once she returns after her recovery.
Setting the perfect example of dedication, one avid fan made a generous offer, “Take my ACL Cam! I don’t need it!” With his response, this fan raised the bar of loyalty and dedication towards Brink, indicating that they would do anything to bring her back to the floor and help her live her dream.
But the highest honor came after some time when she received all the love from the WNBA’s legendary veteran and former Sparks forward, Nneka Ogwumike, who responded with an emoji of two hands making a heart. Ogwumike was a part of the Sparks family for more than a decade. Hence, she still feels the love for all the Sparks players, regardless of old and new.
