The WNBA trade has begun. Multiple professional women’s basketball athletes in the free agency are finding a place in their new homes. Recently, HighlightHer posted a series of photos unraveling which WNBA star is getting exchanged.
Firstly, the Seattle Storm gets the six-time All-Star Skylar Diggins-Smith after previously trading off Kia Nurse to the LA Sparks. Natasha Cloud finds a home in Phoenix Mercury and joins hands with the stars Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi.

As part of the process, Atlanta Dream seems to be building a robust army of powerful players for their next season. They now have Tina Charles and Aerial Powers on their roster. At the same time, Rachel Banham reunites with her first WNBA locker room by signing the Connecticut Suns. Banham was selected 4th overall by the Connecticut Sun in the 2016 WNBA draft.

Adding to the trade list is the prominent shooting guard DiDi Richards who found a new home in the Washington Mystics. Further, Katie Lou Samuelson signs with Indiana Fever. Moreover, two of Phoenix Mercury’s 8th overall picks for 2016 and 2019 also get exchanged for the Minnesota Lynx. These are Courtney Williams and Alanna Smith.

A peek into the 2024 WNBA schedule
According to the WNBA website, the 2024 season is all set to begin on 14 May 2024. Further, the two-time defending champions– The Las Vegas Aces– will feature in the grand opening night. They will be setting sail against the three-time title holders– The Phoenix Mercury. The season will be wrapped up by September 2024 after which the play-offs will begin.
