WNBA Superstar Sabrina Ionescu Is Excited As NFL’s Raiders Drop Massive Update – Here’s Why

Head coach appointments are a reason to celebrate. Fans were ecstatic when their favorite Antonio Pierce was confirmed as a full-time head coach for the NFL franchise Las Vegas Raiders. His ascension was a moment of joy for all fans including the WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu. Ionescu looked to be taken over by joy and expressed her excitement for the same.

She shared her reaction with a post from the Las Vegas Raiders official handle on her Instagram story on Friday night. And that had all the fans going on a double dub.

What did Ionescu say?

The post congratulated Pierce and announced his coming in his new role. Ionescu too shared the joy and expressed her happiness by captioning the story with a “Yuhhhhh.” This was enough for fans to reminisce about the sunny time the Raiders had when Pierce was the interim head coach.

For the record, Ionescu’s fiance Hroniss Grasu plays for the team since 2021. The duo got engaged in January last year. On the other hand, Pierce was hired alongside the previous head coach Josh McDaniels as their linebackers coach. He gained momentum and was named as the interim head coach when McDaniels was fired. Pierce since his debut announced his coming onto the big stage over a blowout win against the New York Giants. His brilliant tactics and their subsequent execution by the team didn’t end there since the Raiders smashed a record 63 points against the Los Angeles Chargers. This was also the franchise’s highest point tally in their history. 

And it cemented Pierce’s stronghold over the team who were quite willing to have him in the capacity of a permanent head coach. Though, the Raiders could not reach the playoffs, what Pierce did for the team was priceless. Ultimately, the Raiders had a 5-4 record under him with the overall tally of 8-9.

He was thus named as the head coach and joined the Raiders’ list of the fourth interim coach to be elevated to the rank of head coach alongside legends such as Art Shell, Tom Cable, and Marty Feldman. Like Pierce, Ionescu too would be looking forward to success.

What about Ionescu?

Meanwhile, the WNBA 2024 will kick off on May 14 with the season’s opener being played between the New York Liberty and the Washington Mystics. And Ionescu would be keen to take her team to a Championship title this season. She has notably extended her contract with the Liberty starting 2024. With her, the Liberty can be sure of performing to their fullest this season.

Ionescu has not only established herself as an exceptional athlete but going by her stories looks to be a sports junkie. Hopefully, Ionescu will also get a chance to celebrate this WNBA season like she did just now when Pierce was appointed as the head coach.
