The Indiana Fever battled it out against the Chicago Sky on Saturday, edging past the Sky by a narrow margin of 71-70. The match went from coast to coast as the heat spilled from the players to the viewers. In one such incident, the Sky guard Chennedy Carter pushed former NCAA icon and WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark who immediately fell to the floor. Carter’s shoving was noticed by the referees who awarded a free throw to Clark who potted it. However, some fans were still furious with Carter for getting over-aggressive. And now a recent decision from the league has fuelled distaste from Carter’s followers.

Following the incident, Carter denied speaking of it during the post-match presentation. Even today with her tweets she stood sturdily with her actions. The WNBA however, felt that Carter’s actions weren’t justified and in order to reprimand the 25-year-old, the WNBA upgraded the foul to a Flagrant 1.

This annoyed a lot of followers who opined that the WNBA was being biased toward Carter. One fan pointed out that the league did not issue any punishment for Clark who has made an image of herself for being flamboyant and using a lot of cuss words. “of course the league reviewed it for their Darling… meanwhile ms clark gets to cuss out anybody and everybody and get no punishment smh,” stated the fan.

“What about the elbow to face previous play by Caitlin ?,” one fan stated reacting to the news. The fan reminded all of the elbow play by Clark against Carter. The Sky guard was looking to pot the ball which came towards her and Clark in order to snatch it got her elbow jabbed on Carter. Though, there is still controversy surrounding whether Clark’s hand touched Carter’s face, the fan demanded that Clark should have also gotten a foul.

“Glad we are now personally reviewing fouls for their favorite…,” another user commented. Clark since her arrival to the WNBA has sold a lot of tickets. The WNBA sales have increased by 93%. The fan took a jibe at Clark for being America’s favorite athlete right now.

“Soft,” a netizen remarked. The user sarcastically took a dig at Clark for being soft or maybe he was slamming the decision sarcastically by calling it soft.

“Can her fans stop complaining now,” one follower also commented that Clark’s fans had been outraged since she had fallen down. And now finally they must have attained peace.

“Not even a flagrant foul. Just give her a technical foul,” a fan seemed to retort that a technical foul had already been given and there was no need to extend the matter.

Meanwhile, Carter seemed unapologetic for her actions.

Carter took to the social networking site X when ex-NBA star Chandler Parsons had taken to the social media networking platform to inquire about the whereabouts of Clark’s teammates when the latter fell due to the foul. Carter took the opportunity to state, “I’m coo wit em now what.” Since Carter seemed to stand her ground many speculated that the rivalry extended to some incident that had happened during the game and Clark was equally responsible for it.

Meanwhile, when Carter shoved Clark, the benched Angel Reese stood up immediately and started clapping. It also showed that Reese supported her teammates’ actions.

After the flagrant 1 foul, maybe Clark’s fans would have breathed a sigh of relief, but the war continues on social media as Carter’s followers look dissatisfied. Hopefully, both teams would sooner resolve their problems.
