After getting defeated in games 1&2, the New York Liberty, under Breanna Stewart’s lead, took charge of the court and won Game 3. It was a historic event for the Liberty. It was their first win since Teresa Weatherspoon shot the ball from halfway through the court (almost 50 feet away) in Game 2 against Houston Comets in 1999.

After leading by three points at half-time, the Liberty went on to score eight more points in the third quarter to build a double-digit advantage, bringing the star-studded audience to its feet.

The Aces and Liberty went head to head this time. Although the Liberty had the lead 61-50 after three quarters, the Aces kept a close distance to take over the game. However, the Aces were on their toes as this was Liberty’s home turf advantage. The Barclay’s Center was filled with a sold-out crowd consisting of almost 18,000 fans who came to witness Liberty’s resilience.

To everyone’s delight, the crowd was graced with the presence of Hollywood star Jason Sudeikis, Musician Swizz Beatz, 4-time NBA Champion Tony Parker, Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Mikal Bridges, Veteran Robin Roberts (ESPN sportscaster for 15 years), and the point G.O.A.T. Sue Bird donning a white t-shirt as a part of the Ali Krieger Fan Club.

Mikal Bridges can’t stop fangirling on Sabrina Ionescu, he is there in almost every game to hype his favorite Liberty point guard. They both?hugged it out as they share the same homecourt – the Barclay’s Center.

Winning Game 3 has been a phenomenal comeback for the New York Liberty. However, they still need to keep the momentum going to win the WNBA Championship.

On the other hand, A’ja Wilson led the Aces to arrive at six, shortly after Stewart hit a reverse jumper and Betnijah Laney stole the ball, halfway through the court, from Jackie Young and delivered a free throw to extend the lead to 10.

The Aces’s point guard Kelsey Plum scored 29 points along with Wilson adding 16 points and 11 rebounds. Despite today’s defeat, the Aces appear to be the first team to win consecutive championships since LA Sparks won in 2001-02.
