Is it possible to have Caitlin Clark vs Angel Reese and not have a record broken? Recently, the Indiana Fever clashed with the Chicago Sky for the second time at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena, featuring the No. 1 and No. 7 WNBA draft picks this season, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The game captivated its audience drawing an average of 2.25 million viewers on CBS, making it the most-watched WNBA game on any network in the last 23 years. Notably, the Fever’s 91-83 win marked the second time this season that the Women’s league crossed the 2 million viewership mark. Before this incredible feat, the May 14 Fever vs. Connecticut Sun matchup saw 2.12 million viewers on ESPN2. With this, ESPN has not only topped CBS but also its viewership record.

It seems like Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly beneficial for the WNBA. Since her arrival, the WNBA has seen massive changes, including sold-out matches. In May, it recorded the highest attendance, filling arenas by up to 94%. Do you know before Clark’s arrival reaching over 1 million viewers was a threshold for the WNBA?

For the longest time, the WNBA viewership would peak at a million but all the dynamics changed right from the WNBA draft night. For those unaware, over 2.45 million viewers tuned in to witness the WNBA No. 1 draft pick’s selection on ESPN. By recording this, Clark overcame the previous high for WNBA draft viewership of 601,000 viewers. It was during the 2004 WNBA draft pick when Phoenix opted for Diana Taurasi as their No. 1 pick.

Moving on, the Fever vs. Sky was undoubtedly a must-watch. While Clark secured 23 points in 37 minutes, Aliyah Boston accumulated 19 points. For Clark, this was probably one of the best days as a pro. She successfully made 7 of 11 shots, and 3 3-pointers and celebrated her first back-to-back wins of her WNBA career.

Now, both teams will move towards their final regular season meetup scheduled for August 30 in Wintrust Arena. As the Fever has snatched two victories from the Sky, what do you think will happen on August 30? Only time will tell.
