Is Caitlin Clark's return to Iowa a reminder of the power of community and sports?

It’s time for some furry fun! After leaving Indiana wanting more, Caitlin Clark is back where it all began – Iowa! The Rookie of the Year has been making stops at her alma mater throughout the week, from receiving her ring with Hawkeyes teammates to watching a football game. Although her boyfriend Connor McCaffery, another Iowa alum, is missing, CC has added another stop to her itinerary.

Kate Martin, former Hawkeyes player and current Las Vegas rookie, and Clark just paid a visit to the campus’ Stead Family Children’s Hospital Facility dogs, Nacho and Corrin! And going by the picture, everyone looks pawsitively happy. The official page posted the photo to their Instagram, later shared on her story by Martin.

“What an un-fur-gettable day! Huge thank you to our furiends @katemartin and @caitlinclark22 for stopping by last week!!” reads the caption. Clark and Martin also met up with the third part of the trio that carried Iowa in the last two NCAA seasons, Gabbie Marshall, as well as rising junior Jada Gyamfi, keeping traditions from their college days alive. Fever No. 22’s boyfriend, meanwhile, has been focusing on his own personal plans as well.

Last Sunday McCaffery re-shared an Instagram story from Rob Dosier of the Indiana Mad Ants, a G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers. The story was captioned, “Great bday dinner last night with better people,” but the Butler assistant coach went without his date that night.

The couple was last spotted together on Oct 19 for the Golden Gala, an annual fundraiser for the Pacers Foundation, and a preseason game for the team before that. Seeing how Clark is now an integral part of Indiana and McCaffery used to work there, the visit must have been a special one.

Dogophile Caitlin Clark and her never-ending story with furry friends

Once upon a time, Caitlin Clark had her own four-legged friend at Iowa called Bella, who often made appearances on the courtside and social media. When the Iowa Women’s Basketball’s X account wished the golden retriever, “a Happy #NationalDogDay to our Hawkeye-cookie loving, gold-medal wearing pup, Bella Clark,” her hooman made sure to clarify one thing.

“Everyone probably thinks I run this account…I swear I don’t! Happy National Dog Day to my pup tho😂💛” Clark wrote in a hilarious reply. She made a point of befriending the campus dogs as well, and the tradition continued in Indiana. Just after CC was drafted by the Fever, their first media day involved a visit from some Paws And Think therapy dogs.

The Fever posted a video of their new No. 22 interacting with Ruby, Jax, and Haiku in an adorable video that quickly went viral. Now at the end of the season, we don’t see Bella on her account as often, but for those of us with our own furry friendships, we say let the doggos reign!
