The Indiana Fever has one of the youngest locker rooms in the entire WNBA. After picking up Aliyah Boston in their previous drafts, the 2012 champs added another NCAA sensation in the form of NCAA Division I all-time leading score Caitlin Clark to boost their aspirations for a second title. However, within its ranks is another individual who had made quite a reputation in college basketball.
The 2021 national champion with Stanford Lexie Hull. The 6th overall pick in the 2022 WNBA draft has been an integral part of the franchise for 2 seasons now. But before that, she did a lot of grinding for the Cardinal in her college days.

Hull scripted history with her 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals against UC Davis to become the first freshman in the program’s history to finish with a double-double on her debut. Although, she wasn’t able to carry this momentum throughout the season as her first year resulted in a scoring average of just 5.6 points but ended up winning the Pac-12 Tournament.
Following this, she picked up her game as a sophomore as soon as she became a regular starter on the team. The highlight was the 28 points and 9 rebounds in the Pac-12 semifinals. Consequently, this helped Stanford defeat UCLA 67–51 and enter their second consecutive Pac-12 championship game.

In addition to this, the year proved to be her best in terms of numbers as she ended the campaign securing 13.6 points along with 6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. This helped Hull collect the All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Defensive accolades. Anyhow, more glory awaited her in the final two seasons of her college basketball career.
Hull’s national championship season
Lexie Hull returned to the Cardinal locker room with more sting as a junior. She decided to score a season-high 24 points in Stanford’s third straight Pac-12 Finals to hand them the trophy. Her onslaught didn’t stop here as she gave two-matching winning performances of 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 18 points, 13 rebounds in the Elite Eight and Final Four clashes respectively. The final roll in the dice came in the national championship as her second consecutive double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) against Arizona helping Stanford win its first national championship since 1992.

She wasn’t done yet as her senior year resulted in yet another Pac-12 title for the Cardinal. In addition to this, her 12.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game made way for the Cardinal to make a Final Four appearance for the second year in a row. On April 4, 2022, Hull announced that she’d be a part of the 2022 WNBA drafts. Subsequently, Indiana wasted no time in selecting her as their top choice.
There is no denying that Lexie Hull is slowly growing in the professional scheme of things. She has a great chance to realize her true potential and repeat her Stanford heroics with the franchise. It will be worth a watch for the fans to see what results Indiana can get through her contributions.
