In a historic game against the Washington Mystics on 11 July 2023, Jewell Loyd set a record of having a whopping 9 three-pointers. While she was still not able to get her team to win, she definitely made the headline. The point guard and shooting guard of the Storm is now tied with two other WNBA superstars.
Kelsey Mitchell made 9 three-pointers back in 2019 and Kristi Toliver achieved the same in playoffs in 2017.
Surprisingly, this was not the first time that the Gold Mamba created history. She previously recorded eight 3-pointers twice in single games. She was going for another 3-pointer, but the ball spun on the rim and fell down.
She also recorded seven 3-pointers in the previous game on 17 June 2023. She has managed to get to number 18 on the all-time 3-pointers scoring leaderboard.
Jewell Loyd has been a part of the Seattle Storm since 2015 where she was their first draft pick.

An insight into Jewell’s career
Before becoming their point guard, she was the Storm’s shooting guard as they already had Sue Bird as their point guard. However, she also acted as their backup point guard in her rookie years. She became the WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2015. Her overall average to date stands at 16.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game in a total of 290 games.
Jewell has had legendary mentors like Kobe Bryant and Sue Bird. And she has a lot of time to improve her ranking on the all-time 3-pointers scoring leaderboard since she is only 29. Nevertheless, she is creating history already. While her team the Seattle Storm was not able to win the game, we hope to see better performances from the entire team in the future.
