The Phoenix Mercury captured the trophy in 2007, 2009, and 2014 against Detroit, Indiana, and Chicago Sky but couldn’t level up against Houston Comets in 1998 and Chicago in 2021.

As for Los Angeles – they have bagged the title in 2001, 2002, and 2016 against the Charlotte Sting, the New York Liberty, and the Minnesota Lynx, but lost to Detroit Shock and Lynx during 2003 and 2017.

Another interesting fact is that the New York Liberty will join the Mercury and Sparks by appearing in their fifth Final on Sunday, and if they win it would be their first title.

Which team has won the most Finals?

However, the teams to win most WNBA Finals have been the Minnesota Lynx, the Houston Comets, and the Seattle Storm- all tied at the magical number four.

The Comets won back-to-back four titles since the very first four years of the commencement of the WNBA. They decimated New York Liberty thrice in 1197, 1999, 2000, and Phoenix Mercury in 1998.

Whereas Seattle Storm won the title in 2004, 2010, 2018 and 2020. In their quest for the title they crushed the Connecticut Suns, Atlanta Dream, Washington Mystics, and Las Vegas Aces respectively in those years. Hence, WNBA has done a good deal in women’s sports.
