The atmosphere is electric as one of America’s favorite leagues, the WNBA, is about to commence. The 2024 draft recently took place, which had all the fans glued to their screens. The former LSU Lady Tigers star, Angel Reese, was drafted by the Chicago Sky as the seventh overall pick in the first round. Reese, as per her own admission, hasn’t relaxed since then.
As per ABC7 Chicago, Reese accepted that “it’s been crazy, and I haven’t been able to take a deep breath about it, but I’m ready.” The same is the case for fans who want to see Reese don the jersey and start the WNBA season on a high note.
Before starting with the full-fledged regular season, the Chicago Sky will take on the Minnesota Lynx during the pre-season game on Friday, May 3rd, at 7 p.m. CT. The Sky have landed three players from the top 15 in this draft, including the Gamecocks’ Kamilla Cardoso and the Gonzaga Bulldogs’ Brynna Maxwell.

Most probably, Chicago will test their rookies during the preseason game either on May 3rd or the next battle against the New York Liberty on May 7th, Tuesday. That game will start at 7 p.m. CT, and tickets for the same are available on the WNBA official site.

Following that, the Sky will have their opening game of the season against the Dallas Wings on May 15th, Wednesday, in Arlington, Texas. Though Reese will most probably get a chance to take the court, whether she starts or not will depend on her performances in the pre-season games. The 21-year-old also embraced the idea of playing against her Gamecocks contender, Kamilla Cardoso.
Angel Reese is ready to team up with her former rival
“Being able to have an amazing shot blocker and a girl who can finish a basket… we’re going to be fighting over rebounds, I know that, but I love that though,” Reese said as per ABC7 Chicago. Seeing Cardoso along with Reese will be a treat for fans. especially since Cardoso’s Gamecocks were responsible for ending LSU’s dream of having back-to-back titles. It will be interesting to see how the two settle into the team, considering both have been great at rebounding.

While Cardoso just missed the double-double average narrowly with 9.7 rebounds per game, Reese topped her game with 13.4 rebounds per game. On one hand, Cardoso has been known to play a team’s game. Whereas Reese is a showstopper who can change the dynamics of a contest with her exceptional play. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how Reese adjusts to the top level.
Now that fans know Reese’s schedule, they will block their calendars. Furthermore, Reese would also be excited, trying her level best to chalk a glorious path as she did at the NCAA.
