Two players locked in battle of pure skill, no teammates, no one to pass the ball to, just themselves, the hoop, the will to win. The pressure is high as hell, but the reward is too. But that’s exactly what Unrivaled is. The 3 on 3 basketball league co founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, is bringing with its first ever 1 on 1 tournament.
The competition will be played out from February 10 to February 14, 2025 and will see 30 elite players compete in a high stakes competition. There was one question though: What’s the prize? It is answer as exciting as the tournament itself.

Breaking down the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament prize pool
A total of $350,000 is on the line, and Unrivaled is making sure that not only the top players receive their rewards, but that team spirit stays alive in a solo competition. But how? Let’s look at how the money is split among the players.
Winner Takes Home a Staggering $200,000: That is the sort of money that can change lives. The winner of it all will get $200,000, more than half of the total prize pool. That’s a big deal, especially considering that this amount is more than the average WNBA salary. If that is the kind of payday you get as a player, expect them to bring their absolute best – every single game.
Second Place Gets a Solid $50,000: Nobody likes to come second but still in this tournament is a big win. That runner-up will score $50,000, a payday for making it all the way to the final. Falling just short of the title stings, but this kind of prize definitely helps soften the blow.
Semifinalists Pocket $25,000 Each: If a player makes it to the final four and does not advance, they aren’t leaving empty-handed. Making it deep into the tournament is worth $25,000, a nice reward for both semifinalists.
Teammates of the Winner Each Get $10,000: Now, here’s something unique. Although this is a 1 on 1 competition, teamwork has not been forgotten. Unrivaled has made sure that the champion’s teammates each get $10,000 as a bonus. This twist heightens the excitement not only for the player on the court but for everyone on the squad as well.

Why This Prize Pool Matters
But Unrivaled isn’t just offering money; they’re also making a statement. The prize pool of $350,000 shows that women’s basketball should have more chances. Unrivaled earnings are already at $220,000 per season, and this competition provides another layer of lucrative pay for top players.

For many, the $200,000 grand prize itself is a game changer, better than most WNBA contracts. Unrivaled is definitely setting the bar and raising the bar in terms of a financially and competitively rewarding event.

It’s not only about this tournament, it’s what comes next. This amount of money has the potential to inspire other leagues, and tournaments to up their game and also invest in women’s sports.
As the 1on1 tournament gets closer, the stakes could not be any higher. These players are making more than just a bid to outplay their fellow women. They are fighting to carve their names into the history books. With $350,000 on the table, they will certainly leave it all out on the court.
