When Barbie was introduced in March 1959, no one knew the impact it would have on kids. Since its inception, Barbie has been seen as a symbol of freedom, boldness, and staying true to oneself. It has empowered and given young girls the courage to accomplish their dreams. While the Barbie is a toy concept, millions of girls get inspired by it and personify it in their daily lives. One such icon who has shaped reality in the WNBA is our very Chi-Town Barbie, Angel Reese.
Hence, when the Chicago Sky decided to celebrate the 65th anniversary year of Barbie by having its own Barbie night during the much-anticipated clash against the Indiana Fever on Friday, it only brought a host of fans vying to buy the game’s tickets.

Reese during her NCAA career was named the Bayou Barbie. She is an epitome of all the values that Barbie reflects including being unapologetic, brave, and sticking to one’s personality which earned her the special nickname. Then when she transitioned into the W, she earned a new nickname, Chi-Town Barbie, as she was a part of the Chicago-based franchise.
Reese through her performance won all hearts when she broke Candace Parker’s record of most consecutive double-doubles by hitting 15 in June and July. For her on-court brilliance, some fans even called her the double-double Barbie. Therefore, in an initiative to celebrate and honor Barbie on its 65th anniversary, Chicago will be hosting the first Barbie-themed WNBA night on Friday when the Fever will clash against the Sky at Wintrust Arena.
The game will feature Barbie throughout the matchup with fun activities, giveaways, and fan content among other things taking center stage. DJ Nosike has been roped in to perform during the special night with another female performer who will enchant all during halftime. To celebrate women’s force, Lincoln Road’s founder Ann Drake will be recognized by the franchise and its fans. And all this has led to the tickets skyrocketing in resale.
As per IndyStar, the first 2000 fans to enter the Wintrust Arena will be presented with special giveaways of custom Barbie x Chicago Sky sherpa belt bags or Barbie Hawaiian shirts apart from other things that will be given to them throughout the game. To commemorate Barbie’s spirit, there will be a Barbie photo booth, retail items along hair braiding stations that will use Barbie colors. Looks like a perfect day for Barbie fans.

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark’s matchup expected to break pricing records
The game will be special for another reason since it is the fourth matchup between the Sky and the Fever this season that will feature two most talked about rookies Reese and Caitlin Clark. The arena is expected to light up by Reese’s supporters and it will be interesting to see how the 22-year-old will handle this pressure. Clark would be looking for a win most importantly since recently released Rookie rankings by ESPN position her in second place while Reese took the top spot. This makes it not a very soothing thing for the competitive Clark.
The tickets are available on TicketMaster.c0m and are priced from $150 to $500 each. Additionally, they are touching the ceiling in their resale on StubHub with a high of $10,565 apiece. Hopefully, for Reese’s fans, the Sky will triumph in this game and take another step in their dream of making it to the playoffs.
