The Las Vegas Aces were dominating the Chicago Sky when a scary situation occurred. Tiffany Hayes, who signed with the Aces in a surprising move in May after announcing her retirement last December, has been injured. Hayes had said last year that the basketball calendar for the last decade had rarely let her see free days. But the lure of a championship probably brought her back, this time to the West Coast. However, today’s outing has brought her down on the court.
Reportedly, in a move to get a rebound, Sky rookie Angel Reese accidentally pushed Michaela Onyenwere, her own teammate aside. In an unfortunate turn of events, Onyenwere fell onto Hayes and injured the Aces player. As she went down, the entire Las Vegas team surrounded her, and Hayes eventually had to leave the game with a knee injury.
It’s been a rollercoaster of a night for Reese, who got brutally blocked by Aces point guard A’Ja Wilson earlier in the game. Fans have been calling out Reese, who is admittedly a defensive player, for taking it too far. Hayes has just barely gotten back to WNBA, whose experience as a veteran can’t be ignored by the Aces.

“I know she had announced her retirement, but I thought she was very specific about the WNBA. You know me, we’re gonna shoot our shot. So we called even though she said she was retiring and had a great conversation with her,” Aces head coach Becky Hammon had said back in May.
There is no concrete update about how serious the injury for Tiffany Hayes is yet. But at least she might rest easy knowing that her team is still comfortably in the playoff race, unlike their opponents. But while Angel Reese might have yet again made history tonight for the Sky by having 20 or more rebounds in three consecutive games, the favorite for MVP is still A’ja Wilson.
The Aces point guard, who was on another winning streak tonight, boldly called out ‘everyone’ at a half-time interview.
What’s your perspective on:
Was the foul on Tiffany Hayes intentional or just a part of the game? What's your take?

A’ja Wilson will not be itimidated
While her teammate had to unfortunately exit the game early, Wilson led the team to a close 77-75 victory with a buzzer beater. But before that, she said at a half-time interview, “Everyone has to do their job. From the players, to the refs to the coaches … I don’t appreciate being looked at and stared at as if you’re trying to intimidate me.”

It could have been a reference to Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso repeatedly marking Wilson, who was on fire tonight. By the end of the game, Wilson had 20 points, 18 rebounds, and even made the game-winning shot with just over a second left on the clock in a thrilling victory.
Even LeBron James was impressed, who wrote on X, “GAME BLOUSES!!!!! @_ajawilson22 😤💪🏾🫡” Wilson is certainly playing in a league of her own!
There’s no doubt that the Aces star deserves to be in the MVP race. But while she’s playing well, Wilson will not play by being intimidated. For the Aces, and for teammate Tiffany Hayes who went down through no fault of her own, the point guard is going to keep bravely fighting.
