Is Angel Reese the future face of women's basketball? Share your thoughts!

The double-double queen now has brand partnerships with close to two dozen companies after her latest collaboration. Just like her mentor Shaquille O’Neal, Angel Reese has now teamed up with a chocolate brand, the Hershey Company. The 130-year-old company has more than 90 brand names and is spread over 80 countries, clocking in an annual revenue of more than $11.2 billion.

Earlier this month, Nick DePaula also announced Reebok’s debut collection for Angel Reese. The collection features metallic silver and an icy ‘always blue’ colorway which will drop in 2 days. But before that, let’s deep dive into “Reese’s Pieces” and its origin with the WNBA star.

The collection with the namesake chocolate drop will have 3 separate launches. From Angel Reese’s social media activity, one can track the first tweet in late June. Defeating her arch-nemesis and the Indiana Fever, Reese on X asked, “Reese’s pieces where y’all at?” And it did not take time for her 500k+ fans, to urge the candy company to work something out. With over 3.4 million views on the tweet, soon the brand joined in, replying, “Where are we? Just following our favorite player.”

Additionally, the $40 billion brand also uploaded an image featuring Reese’s candy piece wearing her trademark headband. As per the Boardroom, the two Reese brands connected post the tweet. “The connection between my name and the Reese’s brand was obvious, but it went deeper than that,” added Reese. “My fans started calling themselves ‘Reese’s Pieces,’ and after I kept seeing it on social, I started engaging with some of my fans about it.”

Speaking about the current drop with Reese’s, the Sky forward wanted to deliver something for her fans quickly. “We worked as quickly as possible with Reese’s to build a collection that really reflected who I am — bold, vibrant, and unapologetically me.” So, what does the drop feature?

The fans really made this happen,” said Angel Reese. “This collection is for my Reese’s Pieces – who’ve been with me every step of the way and the design elements bring together things that I love -basketball, style, and of course, Reese’s!

Firstly, the partnership design was worked under Athlete Studio, known for its IP and commerce platform for professional athletes. Starting today, there will be a total of three exclusive drops. Reese’s Pieces Logo Collection, Reese’s Basketball Jersey, and Reese’s Cup Logo Collection.

The Angel Reese x Reese’s Pieces Logo Collection will feature eight custom pieces. They will have the Reese’s Pieces logo re-imagined just for Angel Reese, which includes a cropped tee, t-shirt, hoodie, and hat and will be available in both white and cream.

On the other hand, Angel Reese x Reese’s Basketball Jersey, as the name suggests, will have a custom jersey. The third drop, Angel Reese x Reese’s Cup Logo Collection, will feature the logo A insignia with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. This gives the effect of the crowning moment for the fans and will feature the eight merchandise just like the first.

As the much-anticipated collaboration of the No. 7 WNBA Draft pick and the Hershey Company comes to light, the fans can finally relish this full circle moment which Reese defines as “one of those ‘pinch-me’ moments.” What do you think about the rookie’s collaboration? Let us know in the comments!
